I Perform regularly in Chandler, Gilbert, Fountain Hills, Mesa, Scottsdale, Sun Lakes, and Phoenix.
My 1300 song repertoire consists of all styles of music
I was born and raised on the North side of Chicago in "Andersonville", a Swedish neighborhood. This is where I started my musical training at the age of eight. I took accordion lessons and played clarinet in grade school and high school band.
When I served in the Air Force, I took my accordion along, and entertained my fellow troops in the States and Overseas. During my enlistment I played in many bands and jam sessions.
When I returned to civilian life and college, I formed the first of my several bands. I was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, Local 284, and Rolf West is a registered professional stage name. A couple of my memorable bands were the Rolf West Revue and the Westwood Quartet. We played numerous Weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, and parties; but we also performed regularly in restaurants, clubs and lounges.
One of the highlights of this era was opening for Helen Reddy, when her show toured the Chicago area.
After graduating from college, I worked as an electrical engineer for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. However; I still found time to play in my bands.
Since our early retirement, my wife and I sold our house in Chicago and now travel full-time in our motor coach. In our travels, I have entertained in eldercare facilities, RV parks, resorts, and rallies across the USA.
I converted all my musical equipment and instruments to digital and now perform as a single act, that sounds like a four or five piece band. My current repertoire of over 1300 songs is kept current on an iPad, instead of shuffling through a stack of sheet music. I play all styles of music, specializing in old time music and music from the Big Band Swing Era.
